Superfans

Here's an email we got from our homeowners association today. Notice the careful use of CAPITAL LETTERS:

GO COLTS !!!!

LET’S SHOW OUR SUPPORT TO THE COLTS BY LIGHTING OUR
FRONT PORCHES WITH BLUE LIGHTS.

Who keeps blue lights on hand for emergencies such as this? Where do you even buy blue lights in January?

Oh, the humanity

Check out this article about chauffeurs driving kids to preschool in New York. Fun quote:

"In exasperation, the director of the school, Nancy Schulman, drafted a letter to all families insisting that the drivers wait somewhere else while parents or baby sitters take the children in: find a legal parking space, or take their cars for a few spins around the block.

"In the letter, which parents received once in the spring of 2006 and twice this school year, Ms. Schulman played perhaps the only bargaining chip she has, stating that failure to observe this rule could hinder their children’s chances of getting into the kindergarten of their choice."

Go Colts!

No, we haven't gone native. A woman with whom I work gave Sophie the outfit as a gift, and we thought it'd make a good photo. We're not even sure what the Colts are. A basketball team?

Whatever. Sophie's cute. And yes, she is getting chunky. Check out those legs!

Is this real?

A five-month old balancing on one foot.

Bon Voyage

Emma and I took a short trip to California on Friday and Saturday. We had fun playing with Max, Jack, Annie, Matthew, Katie, Bama, Pa, Great-Grammy and Great-Grampy. Next time we'll need to stay a little bit longer, and bring the entire crew.

Giggles

Sophie started giggling a few days ago. She doesn't laugh often enough for us to understand her sense of humor, but that doesn't stop us from trying constantly to make her do it again. I wanted to catch her giggling on film tonight, but wouldintchaknow she stopped by the time I got the camera rolling. So here's a video of Sophie being mildly amused instead.

Diapers for cheap

If you go to this page on Amazon and buy $99 worth of diapers, you can get $30 off. And the embarrassment of watching the UPS man bringing several boxes of diapers to your door. But hey, it's a good deal.

(Be sure to select free shipping and enter the correct discount code.)

Hello, my name is Dad.

Emma: Dad!
Me: Emma!
Emma: Dad!
Me: What?
Emma: I'm going to call you dad from now on.
Me: Huh? What did you used to call me?
Emma: Daddy.
Me: Why won't you call me daddy anymore?
Emma: Because I'm a big girl now.

Bummer.
