ETHAN: Sophie took the cookie that I licked.
GINGER: Why did you lick one of the cookies?
ETHAN: To reserve it.
SOPHIE: Well, I don't taste any licks.

This year is going to be good

We got the kit that comes with safety glasses (among other things). That's right, we're celebrating our patriotism and Chinese marketing genius at the same time.

Feeling giddy around here

Yes, it's another crawling video

But we've never seen anything like this in our family before, and we can't get enough of it around here.  He moves around through a combination of ninja rolls and army crawls.  Here is how he sneaks under the barbed wire:

We find it both hilarious and endearing. He is having fun exploring, finding things to get into, doors to open, beds to jump off of, etc.  He loves his freedom, but still prefers to be carried around.

Hooray for summer

Form and movement

This is how he goes from sitting to moving.  He bonked his face so many times on the floor doing this that now he kinda does it on purpose--but gently, then eases himself on to his tummy.  Whatever it takes to get the shiny camera.

He seems to have made a conscious decision that rolling works better than crawling, so for now, that's how he gets around:

Yep, that's how he rolls.  Poor kid #5. Andrew at this age probably had trucks and tractors to play with. Henry gets power chargers.

Double digits

We love Ethan. It is hard to believe he is already 10 years old.

We celebrated three times over the last week: with family, with a Big Ugly, and with a group of friends who joined him for laser tag. (Yes, he took the party option over the cash option--the first time anyone in our family has done that in years.)

He is a very special kid. Happy birthday, dude.

Meanwhile...

Andrew ate almost an entire half pound of lips, tails and eyeballs. A 10", half pound hot dog.

He made it halfway
