that is so crazy! when i was in eastern syrian desert, (close to the iraq border) we had a mini-sandstorm when we were up on the highest point in the ancient city of palmyra. it didn't turn completely black, but more dusk-like, despite being mid-day. it was super strange! we breathed fine, but then again, it wasn't as massive as this one.
it's amazing how dark it got. i was just reading my country life magazine about england thinking why can't everyone live in beautiful places like this! mom
