Is Elliott an appropriate name for a girl?

No.

Just thought I'd answer that one again for those of you who found this blog by googling "girl named elliot." Ever since this post, I have been getting a lot of hits that way.

The answer is no, it is not an appropriate name for a girl. Just like Sarah would not be an appropriate name for a boy, and "cute" would not be an appropriate name for androgynous naming trends.

Amen, brotha. Hey, maybe by posting this you will single-handedly wipe out that trend! Wouldn't that be awesome?

I've heard some of these androgynous names for so long, that I can't remember if they were originally male or female. That's sad!

My DAUGHTER'S name is Parker and it suits her. A name is a parent's choice and most names suit those to whom they are given.

Oh by the way Elliott, I decided to take you up on the $10 for a baby girl named Mitt. Just gotta find somebody who's willing to go along with me.

not everyone looking for an androgynous name is planning on naming their kids... Some people dislike their overly feminine or masculine names because they don't suit them, and want something androgynous that more accurately reflects their personality or appearance.

thanks for wasting my time and not changing my mind, I DO like elliott as a girl's name, I was just googling how common it was for each gender.
